May Day is a national day of protest in France with people marching to express their views about politics and work. We just happened to be changing our hotel that day and due to road blocks cutting off the route to our new hotel near the Latin Quarter, we ended up joining the march, our overnight wheelie bags in tow! It was a very social occasion - everyone had brought their kids and dogs and it all seemed a big friendly day out. However, as sometimes these events get a little out of hand, the police were waiting in the sidelines done up in their full riot gear as you can see in the last couple of photos.
