The Desert Rat and I recently had a short soujourn to New York. I can not say enough how much I love this city! It was my first time and the Rat's second visit and we were lucky enough to stay with a friend in the DUMBO area (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) in Brooklyn where we could jump on a train and get to wherever we wanted. We found it an easy place to get around and people were friendly. We also caught up with a dear friend of mine who I hadn't seen for 15 years and he very kindly took some time to show us around as well. We saw lots, but could easily have spent another week or so seeing even more - it just means we need to go back another time.
DUMBO, as it's name suggests is near the Manhattan Bridge but is also in easy walking distance of the Brooklyn Bridge.
